The Onitsha Archdiocesan Vicar General and Parish Priest in charge,Very Rev Fr Johnbosco Okafor, has taken a swipe on federal Nigerian lawmakers who appropriated limousines estimated at N160 million Naira each as official vehicles.
The Vicar General who expressed this outrage while delivering his homily last Sunday, said it amounted to insensitivity on the current plight of Nigerians who he said are being ravaged by hunger.
According to the Vicar General, leadership is about service and those entrusted with it must be seen as servants and not masters to the people who elected them into office.
“Our politicians don’t know about leadership. They put themselves first and tell other Nigerians to always excercise patience while collecting all kinds of benefits ranging from, sleeping allowance, wardrobe allowance, standing allowance, feeding allowance and all worth not”.
He described Nigeria as a country of wastes where people live in pretensions, borrowed principles and ideologies.
The Vicar General also called out some church leaders who he said are not spared the rot in the country.
According to him, many people who find themselves in various church organisations do so for personal aggradisment and not necessarily for service to God and humanity adding that if anyone wants to be a leader,he should be ready to serve.
