On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, Archbishop Valerian Maduka Okeke of Onitsha, Anambra State, visited the Onitsha Correctional Center.
He celebrated Easter with the inmates, delivering a homily encouraging them to maintain faith and love.
He highlighted the center’s skill acquisition programs, education, and other resources as avenues for rehabilitation and future success.
Archbishop Okeke also urged Christians and non-Christians alike to embrace universal love.
The center’s chaplain, Fr. Okpalaugo, praised the Archbishop’s unwavering support and prayers, crediting them with freeing inmates.
He also expressed gratitude for the relief supplies provided. Controller of Anambra State Correctional Centers, Mr. Valentine Ikechukwu Paul, thanked the Archbishop for his continued assistance, wishing him long life and good health.
The visit concluded with the distribution of food (rice, toiletries), a cow being slaughtered, and the sharing of Easter cake.
