The Dean of Wusasa Deanery of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria and the Parish Priest of St Augustine of Hippo Parish, Federal College of Education (FCE), Kongo Zaria, Rev Fr. Dr. Ezekiel Danlami Tijjani has charged the faithful to prepare adequately for the coming of Jesus. The priest who hinged his homily on the day’s Gospel reading on the Parable of Ten Virgins also tasked students to make judicious use of their time in school.
He noted that every Christian has the same starting point at Baptism but the difference lies in how well they prepare for eternity. He then implored them to use their time on earth well so that they do not live in regret in eternity.
“The journey is far.” The priest said. “We must be ready to carry extra oil. As Christians, our oil is always the same, our Baptism is the same – we are equal at the beginning. But as the race starts, some get tired. Some do not get tired because of the level of readiness and preparation. We are waiting for Jesus but we do not have any idea when He will come. In life, we must learn to prepare. Those preparations will go a long way to tell whether we are to be successful or not.”
“We are to prepare ourselves and be ready for His coming. As students, how you prepare yourselves determines how you will end. You cannot be clubbing every day in Zaria and expect to succeed in your examinations. Crash hour is not for everybody. You are to know yourself and how to prepare. We must be ready always. How we run the race matters.”
