Mothers have been identified as the most selfless group of people on earth. Making this assertion in his parish on Mothering Sunday, 14th April 2024, the Parish Priest of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Rev Fr Sebastian Vincent also asserted that a mother’s love is incomparable owing to its authenticity.
The clergyman who reflected on ‘The sacrifice of a mother.’ with special focus on the attributes of a good mother, thanked the honorees for what they do for their respective families and mankind even as he tasked others to appreciate their mothers too.“Today is a day set aside above all to thank you for your sacrifices.”
The priest expressed. “Mothers are the most selfless people on the planet. They begin to love their children even before they are born. They continue to do what they do with joy.
A mother would not eat until her children have eaten. The mother is a teacher and an influencer.Nothing in this world compares to a mother’s love since it is the purest kind of love. At times, our fathers will be quick to say, ‘Look at your child,’ but when the child does well, he says, ‘This is indeed my son.
This is my daughter.’ But the mother goes ahead to accept and pray for the child. That is unconditional love. A mother is prayerful, come rain come sun. No matter what a mother will never reject her own.For those of us who still have our parents alive, let us learn to appreciate them. Let us learn to celebrate and thank them for their many sacrifices.
It is so unfortunate that some of us do not see reasons to do something for our parents. Do not wait until they die before you give them a befitting burial when you did not give them befitting living.
Let us look at the unconditional love and support they give. Let us look at their selflessness in giving this love unconditionally.”On her part, Vice President of Board of Trustee, Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria, (CWON), Member, Representing Kaduna Province, Prof Mrs. Rose Nkom called on mothers who do not live up to expectations to turn a new leaf for the good of their families and the society.
