The Local Ordinary of the Catholic Bishop of Zaria, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh has nudged his flock to keep serving God despite the challenges that may confront them as followers of Jesus Christ. He recounted how Colossians, followed God when times were good, abandoning Him when they faced challenges, and how Paul cautioned against such attitude.
His Lordship explained that the kingship of Jesus is incomparable, presenting Him as a representation of the invincible God. He noted that sometimes, they, like the Colossians serve God conditionally. Affirming that they know where they err, he invited them to embrace the opportunity before them and change for good.
“The Colossians identified with God when things were good.” He said. “They turned their back against Him when things were going bad. But Paul wrote telling them about Jesus. He wrote a letter to them to make them understand that Jesus is a mystical God. He is a representation of the invincible God. He represents the Father. Paul made it known to them that whatever kingship is experienced in this world cannot be compared to the kingship of the Lord.”
“And so the people of Colossi were encouraged to leave the bad life they were living, turn back and embrace God. This is relevant to all of us. We need to change our ways. We need to have that heart of conversion. We know the things we do that do not give glory to God. He is calling us today that we still have an opportunity to repent. When we repent, there is an eternal kingdom for us.”
