The Chief Shepherd of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh has charged members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Nigeria (CCRN), of his diocese to bring back derailing members of the group. Noting that the faculty of reasoning of such persons might be derailing, he requested that they be re-catechized in the way of the Church rather than sent out.
The bishop who discouraged members of the group from confirming the notion that they are prone to breaking away, having the tendency to separate and having their own church, maintained that straying members are not to be placed in positions of leadership, explaining that societies are assigned chaplains, so as to tow the path of the Church. He told them to shun the tendency to compete with parishes, even as he admonished them to work hand in hand with their chaplain and remain focused on progress.
“Do not send them away.” Bishop Daboh directed. “Do not throw them out. They are human beings, but probably, their faculty of reasoning is derailing. And I want to say clearly and loud that such people are not allowed, not only for leadership. They should be trained in such a way that they will work with the mind of the Church. Bring them back.”
