Associate Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Rev Fr Emmanuel Megwalu has admonished christians to draw nearer to God instead of distancing themselves from Him because, according to him,the love of God is greater than sins of man.
Fr Megwalu was delivering a sermon last Sunday at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha when he said so.According to him,the Laetare Sunday was an indication that the Lenten period was at an advance stage and that it has reached a half time which affords the faithful time to strategize and reflect on their faith and other spiritual activities.
He posed questions to the congregation demanding whether they have improved in their lives or gone back to their old ways.
Fr Megwalu pointed out that at times like this,it was only Jesus Christ that can redeem mankind from spiritual bondage.
While admonishing the faithful to be true children of God and desist from evil deeds,Fr Megwalu pointed out that some people are suffering because of the consequences of their actions.God he said, does not derive any happiness in punishing His children.
“Our God is a God of mercy.Jesus is our salvation and redeemer and the love of God for us is greater than our sin”,he declared.
Fr Megwalu warned the faithful that if they refuse to go back to God,they have themselves to blame adding that when God forgives sinners,He forgets about it.
