Pupils of Guardian Angel Nursery & primary school Abatete last Saturday, June 29, 2024 proved their good knowledge of Latin mass songs when their choir took position in Latin of common Mass singing competition organized by Pontifical Mission Society, Onitsha Archdiocese for Holy Childhood Association.
The competition which took place at Basilica square Onitsha witnessed the presence of fourteen choir groups drawned from different parishes and schools in Onitsha Archdiocese.
Speaking to the press, the director PMS Onitsha Archdiocese Rev Sr. Mary Benet Azuka Ezeokoli said the singing competition was part of PMS efforts train the children on official language of the mother church which is Latin, so that they will grow with it and participate very well during Latin masses.
She charged parents to ensure that their children belong to Holy Childhood Association HCA for better formation of their ward, adding that they should always encourage, support the HCA. She explained that HCA is not the same thing as Block Rosary but an association that assist greatly in forming the children to be good Catholics and impacting on them the spirit of mission so that they can be missionaries of Christ tomorrow, propagating the gospel in their different careers. According to her, children use to learn a lot from HCA such as how to help one another, been close to Christ and little disciples and little friends of Jesus.
Sr. Ezeokoli described PMS as body that assist in taking the gospel of Christ to areas that are yet to encounter Christianity.
