In a grand celebration of faith and music, the SS John & Paul Iba Pope Awada Musical Academy hosted an Oratoria Musical Concert to honor the 30th Year Priestly Anniversary of Fr. Victor Mbanusi, the newly appointed Episcopal Vicar of the Onitsha Region. The event took place on a serene Sunday afternoon and was graced by the presence of Bishop Denis Isizoh, the Catholic Bishop of Aguleri Diocese, as the guest of honor.
The day commenced with a solemn Holy Mass, where Fr. Victor Mbanusi presided as the Chief Celebrant, gathering the faithful in prayer and reflection. The celebration of this milestone in his priestly journey set the tone for the grand musical event that was to follow.
In the afternoon, the Musical Academy brought biblical history to life with their captivating rendition of the story of Judas Maccabaeus and his brothers, as they mourned the death of their father. The Academy’s performance was nothing short of glorious, with hymn after hymn resonating through the hearts of all in attendance, including priests, religious figures, and laypeople.
Bishop Denis Isizoh, the Catholic Bishop of Aguleri diocese, arrived shortly after the concert had begun. He was warmly ushered in by Fr. George Adimike, the Communications Director of the Onitsha Archdiocese. Bishop Denis Isizoh’s presence added a special aura to the event, and he was visibly moved by the musical talents on display. In a lighthearted moment, he jokingly remarked that he had gained 20 years of his life through the sheer joy of the music. He promised to make every effort to attend the next annual concert of the Musical Academy.
Fr. Victor Mbanusi, the man of the hour, is a veteran priest of the archdiocese who had been recently appointed the Episcopal Vicar of the Onitsha Region. His patronage has been instrumental in the growth and success of the Musical Academy, which has thrived under his guidance. The event not only marked a heartfelt celebration of his 30-year journey as a priest but also served as the Academy’s annual concert, showcasing the incredible talents nurtured under his watchful eye.
