The Chief Shepherd of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh has charged members of Catholic Lectors Association of Nigeria (CLAN), of his diocese to use their tongues wisely. The bishop who gave the charge at the association’ 2026 Convention in Zaria, also reminded them that they are among those who evangelize by their words and deeds.
On good conduct, he told them that, “The way you dress, the way you conduct yourself should bless others. Whatever comes from your mouth should be words that encourage people, words that make people to change for the better, words that should make people to know God the more. You must be people who are always preaching the Word of God.”
“This is a very important ministry in the Catholic Church because you are among those who evangelize. You are among those who preach and your preaching is not standing here and talking to people, but standing here and speaking on behalf of God. You are not to read anyhow.”
Bishop Daboh explained how beautiful Church the Catholic Church is, disclosing that the Church permits mixed marriage. He added that, as commissioned lectors, they are expected to remain in the Church, so that they do not separate themselves from the Eucharist and so that they may raise their children in the way of the Church.
