By Olivia ObijiakuThe Dean of Samaru Deanery of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Very Rev Fr Prof Peter Bauna Tanko has described same sex marriage as an act that contravenes nature.
Disclosing this at the Mass for the wedding between Miss Victoria Ikwu and Benjamin Joseph, which took place in Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Saturday 20th April 2024, the priest thanked the couple for maintaining what God has stipulated in that regard even as he charged them to help each other in their new journey together.
He asserted that marriage is a school and the best chance to grow. Listing subjects love, prayer, togetherness, forgiveness, selflessness and understanding as some of the subjects in the school of marriage, the clergyman nudged them to learn the subjects together, while supporting and helping each other in their areas of strength and weaknesses.
Fr Tanko advised them to make prayer a top priority in their marriage asserting that those who are too busy to pray are busier than what God wants them to do. He tasked them to accept and raise their children in the fear of the Lord and to keep loving themselves and their children.
