By Ononye VC
A catholic priest,Rev Fr Cyril Ononye has called on the faithful to strengthen their faith and belief in Jesus Christ whom he described as the “Bread of Life” which manifests in the Holy Eucharist.
Rev Fr Ononye made this admonition while delivering a homily at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha, last Sunday.
According to him, through the presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, the soul and body of the faithful is rejuvenated spiritually.
“Christ is telling us that He is the Bread of Life, the spiritual food for those on a journey, though sometimes we are in doubt because of lack of faith”,he explained.
He further pointed out that if the faithful must get all the necessary blessings they need, they must come to Jesus Christ in faith and be emancipated from the worries of life.
He reminded the faithful that life is a journey and transitional and that the world is nobody’s permanent home.
He therefore advised the faithful to eschew malice, unforgiveness and show love and compassion to fellow beings.
Fr Ononye also preached hope to the faithful saying that even when we think that all hope is lost, the faithful should continue to trust in God who is the beginning and end of all.
