In their usual way of appreciating and honouring their chaplains and members,the Onitsha Archdiocesan members of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) led by their Director,Dame Dr Ngozi Nwanosike on Saturday,appreciated two of their members who are accomplished in their professions.
They are,the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University,Igbariam,Anambra State,Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha(represented) and the chairperson of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB),Prof.Vera Nwadinobi both of whom held various positions in the CWO, Archdiocese of Onitsha,before they were appointed to high positions of government.
The CWO also organised a send off get together for their former Associate Chaplain,Rev Fr Calistus Akora who assumed a new position at Aguleri Diocese.
The event was held at the CWO Bethany House,Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
In his homily during a Holy mass preceding the event,the Chaplain of the CWO who is also the Vicar General of Archdiocese of Onitsha,Very Rev Fr Johnbosco Okafor,said the duo of Prof Kate Omenugha and Prof Vera Nwadinobi were good examples of CWO candidates who went through a credible process in academics and moral conduct and therefore deserved to be appreciated and honoured by the organisation.
He charged them to continue to be good ambassadors of the CWO and the Catholic Church in general.
Also speaking during the brief send off organised for the former Associate Chaplain of CWO, Archdiocese of Onitsha,Rev Fr Calistus Akora,Fr Johnbosco Okafor eulogised Fr Akora on his efficient management of the CWO Bethany House such that services rendered in the facility were raised to high standards and in conformity with the expectations of the Archbishop,Most Rev Valerian Okeke.
In his remarks ,the new Associate Chaplain of CWO Rev Fr Collins Okoye promised to continue from where Fr Akora stopped and commended him for his good works at the CWO Bethany House.
The Director of CWO Archdiocese of Onitsha,Dame Dr Ngozi Nwanosike also commended Fr Akora for his transformation of the CWO Bethany House with improved services and discipline among the staff.She also commended the entire members of CWO, Archdiocese of Onitsha for their support and interest in activities of the organisation.
In a farewell address presented by members of the CWO to Fr Akora read by Mrs Uche Ikegbunam and signed jointly by the Director,Dame Dr Ngozi Nwanosike,the Secretary,Lady Chika Obike (aka Iyom Jesus),the chaplains,Very Rev Fr Johnbosco Okafor and Rev Fr Collins Chidozie Okoye,they expressed gratitude to Fr Akora for the remarkable impacts he made in the CWO,Onitsha Archdiocese while discharging his duties as one of their chaplains, among other things.
The honorees expressed gratitude to the entire CWO members for the honour done to them and pledged to continue with their good works and exemplary conduct.
The incumbent Director of CWO,Aguleri Diocese Lady Francisca Emeka and former ASUBEB chairperson Dr (Mrs)Francisca Obi were present at the event.
Highlight on the occasion was Eucharist celebration and presentation of gifts to the honorees.
