The Vicar General, Archdiocese of Onitsha Very Rev Fr Johnbosco Okafor during the week,led a delegation despatched by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha to pay respect to His Royal Majesty,the traditional ruler of Onitsha kingdom,Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe who celebrated his Ofala,2023.
Members of the delegation include Very Rev Fr Aloysius Ikekwe, the Onitsha Archdiocesan Financial Administrator,Very Rev Fr Philip Ibeneme,Very Rev Fr Justin Oguama,Very Rev Frs Johnbosco Ezika and Emmanuel Egwuoba.
The Director General of Catholic Women Organisation, Archdiocese of Onitsha Dame Dr Ngozi Nwanosike,the Onitsha Archdiocesan secretary of CWO,Lady Chika Obike,lady Veronica Ejiamike,Mr Phano Osaji and others were on the delegation.
Speaking after the visit,the Vicar General said the Archbishop used the visit to pay a deserving respect to the traditional rulers of Onitsha,Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe whom he described as a man of positive accomplishments in Onitsha kingdom.
According to Fr Johnbosco, the Obi’s reign is remarkable for the peaceful co-existence of bother the indigenes and non indigenes adding that more importantly,Igwe Achebe relates with the church very well.
The Vicar General delivered the Archbishop’s message of solidarity and goodwill to the Obi of Onitsha and wished him many happy returns in good health and wisdom.
The Archbishop he said,has deep respect for culture and assured the Obi that the Archdiocese will always remember him in prayers for continued peaceful reign.
A gift of a huge ram was presented to the Obi of Onitsha as a mark of love and respect.
