Without wasting much time, the Nigerian Senate has speedily passed the new national minimum wage bill into law after it was forwarded to them by president Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.
He transmitted the Bill to the National Assembly for consideration and potential passage into law.
The transmission came after the organized labour accepted the N70,000 minimum wage offer approved by Mr Tinubu on Thursday last week after six months of heightened agitation and negotiation.
Meanwhile, the submission of the Wage Bill 2024 on Tuesday to both chambers of the National Assembly follows President Tinubu’s promise in his Democracy Day speech on June 12, 2024, to send an Executive Bill on the new national minimum wage to both houses for consideration.
