Following his zero tolerance to dirt and indiscriminate dumping of refuse, the Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra, Hon. Chief (Sir) Stanley Nkwoka, has charged the leadership of all markets in the Idemili North LGA to rein in their members who are in the habit of littering the environment, saying that the Council will no longer condone any further defacing and blocking of drainage systems.
The Chief Servant of Idemili North who gave the charge while addressing the chairmen and representatives of the markets in his office at the Council’s Headquarters, Ogidi, urged them to ensure that they evacuated all the refuse in their various markets to the designated points as and when due, emphasizing that he was particularly pained with the mountainous refuse scattered across the markets, adding that he got firsthand information during his tour of the markets
The Number One citizen of Idemili North urged them to always monitor those in-charge of evacuation of refuse in the markets to see that they dumped the waste at the designated points and not on the roads or waterways, asking them to always get certified contractors that they could hold accountable when he reneged on his mandate.
Nkwoka said he was strictly working on the mandate handed down to him by Gov Chukwuma Soludo, which, he said, was to make Idemili North livable, clean, greener and healthy for all, even as he appealed to the markets’ leaders to purchase mowers for easy cutting of weed and grasses.
The Council boss who harped on clean, healthy and disease free Idemili North, thanked the Governor of Anambra State for the opportunity giving to him to contribute his quota towards making Idemili North a better living place.
Speaking on behalf of the markets’ leaders, the Chairman of Anambra State Markets Almagamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Idemili Zone, Chief Emma Obiagwu, commended the Chairman of Idemili North LGA for his proactive measures geared towards making the council area the cynosure of all eyes.
