Anambra State witnessed a historic day on October 27, 2023, as Governor Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR presided over a momentous event. The occasion marked the graduation, certification, and empowerment of 5,000 beneficiaries, signifying the successful completion of the first phase of the Anambra State 1Youth 2Skills empowerment Scheme, held at ICC Awka.
Governor Soludo, overflowing with joy, delivered a speech that resonated with hope and promise. He commended Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, the Commissioner for Youth Development, and his dedicated team. The Governor also expressed his appreciation to the UNIZIK Business School and the Master Trainers for their pivotal role in bringing the dream of sustainable empowerment and human capital development to life.
In a remarkable gesture, Governor Soludo presented the Commissioner and his team with a substantial funding allocation of N2,000,000,000.00 (two billion Naira). This funding is designated to kickstart the beneficiaries’ journey towards self-reliance and success. The Governor further assured that the preparatory work for the next phase of the scheme is nearing completion.
In his address, Governor Soludo urged the 5,000 graduates to seize this unique opportunity and transform themselves into self-employed entrepreneurs, capable of creating job opportunities for others. He envisioned them as future millionaires and billionaires, destined to contribute to the growth and prosperity of Anambra.
Following the ceremony, the graduates were expected to proceed to their respective local government areas to finalize the process of receiving their startup funds.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, the Anambra Deputy Governor, and Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, the Secretary to the State Government. The presence of members of the State Executive Council, Transition Committee Chairmen, Traditional Rulers, and various government functionaries underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the youth of Anambra State.
Governor Soludo’s inspiring speech and the supportive presence of these dignitaries served as a powerful motivator for the 5,000 beneficiaries, reinforcing the government’s dedication to equipping its youth with the skills and opportunities they need to achieve independence and success in life.
