As the Mother Church celebrated the Feast of Fathers’ Sunday last Sunday, May 3rd, Catholic men were called to shun any form of idolatry. The President of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO) at St. Mary’s Parish, Alor, Chief Law Chukwuemeka Okpala Okoye, made the call while chatting with Trinitas during an event to mark Fathers’ Sunday at the Parish.
He emphasized that the era of idol worshipping is over, pointing out that their forefathers who worshipped idols unknowingly gained nothing from it. He advised his fellow fathers not to repeat such mistakes by shunning fetish practices and discouraging their children from developing an interest in serving false gods.
On the other hand, he thanked his fellow members for their active participation in CMO activities, urging them to sustain the tempo. The Secretary of the organization, Mr. Okakpu Okonkwo Cyprian, and a member, Sir Damian Douglas Chukwurah Onyechi, in their separate contributions, enjoined fellow fathers not to relent in training their wards in the things of God, so that they may not stray from their faith as they grow older.
The Parish CMO Football Coach, Mr. Abel Ojiribe, in his remarks, advised fellow fathers not to joke with sports in order to maintain sound health. According to him, exercise is sacrosanct in the life of young and old adults.
The event was spiced up with football competitions and other activities.
