The Ekiti State Government has officially confirmed the abduction of students, teachers, and a driver in the Emure-Ekiti area. In a statement released on Tuesday, the government vowed to take all necessary measures to ensure the prompt rescue of the victims.
The abduction occurred when gunmen targeted six pupils and three teachers of a private school, along with their bus driver, as they were returning from Eporo-Ekiti on Monday night. Despite the alarming incident, the Ekiti State Government urged residents not to lose hope, assuring them that security measures have been intensified to secure the safe return of the abducted individuals.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji, condemning the kidnapping as callous and unacceptable, emphasized that every effort would be made to rescue the victims. Security agencies in the state are actively pursuing the abductors with the primary goal of bringing the pupils and their teachers back safely.
The government’s statement highlighted the commitment to reinforcing security across the state to root out criminal elements from their hideouts. Governor Oyebanji called on citizens to remain calm and vigilant, urging cooperation with security agencies by providing relevant information to aid in the rescue mission.
