The Parish Priest of St Mary’s Catholic Church Samaru Zaria, Rev Fr. Augustine Isek has charged the faithful to remain nurtured all through their lives so that they do not fast in vain. The priest who gave this charge in the parish, Friday, 1st March 2024 pointed to the Holy Communion as the spiritual food that sustains throughout one’s earthly journey.“You are killing yourself if are fasting without spiritual food.”
The priest told them. “God does not want you to go hungry even if you are fasting. Fasting is refusing to eat the physical food but eating a different kind of food – spiritual food.
Every time we receive the Holy Communion, we receive spiritual energy and that energy makes us strong.God can provide food for you but the beginning of the miracle of provision is believing that God will provide for you. Peter, John and the rest were fishing and could not get fish for sustenance but Jesus was by the side.
When they followed the instruction to cast their net, they caught enough. When you make God part of your life, provision will come, favour will come. The problem of the prodigal son was that he left the provision in his father’s house where there was fattened cow and wanted to eat the food of pigs. Do not leave the provision in the House of God. When you receive the Communion today, ask God to give spiritual energy!”
