The Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke has declared the commencement of Onitsha Archdiocesan Year of Prayer.
He made the declarationon last Saturday shortly after ordaining 20 new priests at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha.
According to the Archbishop,the Jubilee Year 2025 will start with prayers and therefore the need to commence with prayers.
In his words,the Archbishop declared,”Officially today,we are inaugurating the Year of Prayers.We have inaugurated a prayer book known as the Splendour of Prayers.If we live a life of prayers,we shall see a lot of good things in our lives”.
Recall that Pope Francis had declared 2024 Year of Prayer in his Angelus address on Jan.21,2024 that will lead up to the Catholic church’s 2025 Jubilee Year.
A jubilee is a special holy year of grace and pilgrimage in the Catholic Church.
It takes place once every 25 years,though the pope can call for extraordinary jubilee years like the 2016 Year of Mercy or the 2013 Year of Faith.
According to records,the 2025 Jubilee Year begins on Dec 24,2024 and is expected to be concluded on January 6,2026.
