The knights and Ladies led by their Zonal leader,Bro Chris Okonkwo and the Deputy Grand Knight (Bro Barr)Frank Ekene Nwankwo were received by one of the Rev Sisters in charge of the Home, Sr Manuel Marie.
In his remarks after the handover of the welfare materials, one of the knights Sir Stephen Osuala, thanked the Rev sisters for their diligence and commitment in looking after the elderly and children left in their care.According to Bro Osuala, looking after the sick is as good as mortgaging and sacrificing one’s freedom to share in the suffering of the sick or patient.
While receiving the items which included bags of rice, beans, adult and baby pampers, toilet soap among other items,Rev Sister Manuel Marie expressed gratitude to the knights and Ladies for their kind gesture.Sr Manuel appreciated the knights and Ladies pointing out that inspite of the prevailing hardship in the country, they found time to visit and show their love to the inmates of the Home. She offered prayers for God to replenish their pockets and called on other privileged people to emulate the knights and Ladies by remembering the less privileged.
While inspecting the various apartments housing the elderly and children, some of the knights and Ladies broke down in tears in sympathy with the inmates. Some of the elderly were said to be brought to the home by their children or relatives because no one could look after them. Also, some of the little children were suffering from strange illnesses and physical deformity while some were under normal custody for obvious reasons.
The knights and Ladies offered words of comfort and empathy to the inmates, sang songs of praises with them and took special photographs with some of them on wheel chairs.
Leader of Knights and Ladies,Bro Chris Okonkwo emphasized the need for other privileged Nigerians to seek the welfare of the less privileged in the society.
