The parishioners of SS John and Paul Paul catholic church, lba pope Awada, led by very Rev. Fr. Victor Mbanisi have elected an lgwe of the parish. The lgweship position which was hotly contested by five other members of the parish from different zones was won by chief, Sir Chukwuka Duru Chima from Osumenyi town in Nnewi south local government area of Anambra state. The election was witnessed by greater percentage of the parishioners with joy and excitement.
. Speaking to newsmen at the end of the election, the new lgwe of lba pope parish Awada, Chief, Sir Chukwuka Duru Chima gave God the glory for his victory, pledging to use his new position for the service of God and humanity. He specifically pledged to assist the parish Priest of the church, Rev. Fr. Victor Mbanisi for the good works he has been doing in the parish. He described the parish priest as God-sent for the progress and growth of the parish.
The lgwe expressed satisfaction with some of the cultural values of Ndigbo now being appreciated in the church. He called on those who contested the lgweship position with him to join hands with him in the task of contributing for the progress and growth of the universal church.
