Archbishop Valerian Okeke Music Academy (AVOMA) celebrated its 11th anniversary on August 25, 2024, with great enthusiasm and a profound message delivered by the Chancellor of Onitsha Archdiocese, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Prudentius Emeka Aroh.
The event, which featured a vibrant musical concert, gathered the Catholic faithful in a spirit of thanksgiving and reflection.
The theme of the day, “Today is My Day of Decision,” was central to homily of the Archdiocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr Prudentius Aroh. He stressed that the decision to be a Christian is not one that can be made lightly or by others on one’s behalf.
According to him: “It must be a deeply personal and intentional choice, stemming from a one-on-one encounter with Jesus Christ.” He emphasized that this decision should influence every aspect of life, manifesting in practical actions that demonstrate a true commitment to God.
He also described the Christian journey as a demanding path that requires determination, resilience, and a purposeful approach. Christians are called not only to make this decision but to continually renew it with intent, ensuring their lives are guided by the principles of their faith and dedication to Christ.
The Director of AVOMA, Rev Fr. John Ezeanowai, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to God for the successful celebration. He highlighted Archbishop Valerian Okeke’s vision for AVOMA, which is focused on harnessing the talents of young people and empowering them not only spiritually but also by helping them recognize and develop their God-given abilities.
It’s also a form of empowerment, not just about giving money, but ensuring that instead of roaming the streets, these children can channel their energy into something positive and purposeful.”
The celebration concluded with a reception and a musical concert, where guests were visibly delighted by the outstanding performances of the AVOMA musical crew, making the event a memorable one.
