Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has settled the hospital bills of Mr. Bartholomew Ekene Asiegbu, who recently had a leg tumour surgery at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Anambra State.
Mr. Asiegbu, 38, who is from Abba, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, had reached out to the governor’s wife to narrate his problems and seek help with his bill which was over four hundred thousand Naira.
After ascertaining the patient’s condition and the veracity of his claims, the governor’s wife immediately took up the responsibility to clear his bills and offer him additional money to go home.
The Commissioner for Health and State Coordinator of Mrs Soludo’s ‘’Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative’’, represented the governor’s wife at the presentation of the cash to the patient.
Speaking at the hospital, Mrs. Soludo stated that the mission of her ‘’Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’’ was built on compassion and empathy, stressing that the crusade would not make sense if it was devoid of human face.
She congratulated Mr. Asiegbu for beating what she described as a nightmare and for staying positive all through his health challenge.
The governor’s wife urged the patient to stick to the principles of healthy living, especially with what he ate and how he took care of his whole body.
The beneficiary said that the sickness started when he was five years old but resurfaced five years ago.
He said that he had undergone the first surgery three years ago, but the tumour kept growing, prompting the recent surgery to remove it totally.
He appreciated Mrs. Soludo for her magnanimity and for coming to his aid when he really needed help.
The sister, Chinwendu Asiegbu, who has been taking care of him, prayed God to bless the governor’s wife and keep her strong to continue helping humanity.
