Catholic men under the umbrella of Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) Archdiocese of Onitsha,have demonstrated commitment to commence erection of a multimillion Naira Library complex at the Shanahan University site,Onitsha.
This commitment was demonstrated last Monday when the President General of the CM O, Archdiocese of Onitsha,Sir Evarist Uba,led members of his executive and representatives of the various regions of the CMO across the Archdiocese to the university site in Onitsha where they performed a groundbreaking ceremony for commencement of the proposed library project.
The CMO President General,Sir Evarist Uba,while making his remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony,said that members of the CMO were pleased and poised to do all that was necessary to commence the library project which according to him will serve as an enduring legacy by Catholic fathers in support of Archbishop Valerian Okeke’s vision and mission in educational and youth development in the Archdiocese and Nigeria in general.
Sir Evarist urged Catholic men under the Archdiocese of Onitsha both at home and diaspora to “roll up their sleeves” by supporting the project dedicated to their names.
Uba commended the Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke for his initiative and vision of excellence in establishing the university aimed for the good of the present and future generations of Nigerian children.
Earlier in his remarks,the Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke represented by the Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese,Very Rev Fr Dr Basil Ekwunife,commended the leadership of the CMO, Archdiocese of Onitsha and the entire CMO members for showing great interest in the project.
Fr Ekwunife who is also the chairman of the university project committee, pointed out that the library project when completed will accommodate a special place in the minds of the students and other users of the library with an indelible record for the CMO, Archdiocese of Onitsha.
The Vice Chancellor took members of the CMO round the entire university site where he explained the various structures springing up rapidly on the site.
Others present during the visit are,the Onitsha Archdiocesan chaplain of the CMO,Very Rev Fr Sampson Ogbuebuna and the Project Manager of Shanahan University, Onitsha,Rev Fr Charles Otuto.
