After a six-week recess, the Senate reconvened for plenary on Tuesday and immediately entered a closed session to discuss matters of national importance. Senate President Godswill Akpabio appealed to all disgruntled lawmakers to put aside their differences and collaborate with his leadership.
Akpabio emphasized that the progress the nation requires can only be attained through unity.
At the forefront of the plenary session’s agenda is the confirmation of Mr. Olayemi Cardoso’s nomination for a position at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Additionally, the Senate intends to conduct comprehensive screenings and confirmations in the committee of the whole for the appointment of four new deputy governors: Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala M. Bello.
