Bishop Uzoukwu Urges Fellow Bishops to Prioritize Prayer
During the Mass on day-5 of the first 2024 plenary assembly of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Most Rev. Martin Igwe Uzoukwu, the Catholic Bishop of Minna Diocese, delivered a heartfelt message to his fellow Bishops, emphasizing the importance of prayer.
Reflecting on the gospel reading of the day, which focused on prayer, Bishop Uzoukwu underscored prayer as a cornerstone of Christian life, especially during the Lenten season. He reminded the Bishops of Jesus’ teachings on prayer, urging them to approach prayer with sincerity and devotion.
As leaders of the church, Bishop Uzoukwu encouraged his colleagues to emulate Jesus’ example by integrating prayer into their daily lives and ministries. He emphasized prayer as a means to connect with God, seek divine guidance, and fulfill their sacred responsibilities to the faithful.
Drawing inspiration from Mother Teresa’s perspective on prayer, Bishop Uzoukwu emphasized its role in surrendering to God’s will and aligning one’s actions with His divine purpose. He highlighted the significance of each Bishop’s episcopal motto, which serves as a reflection of their spirituality and guiding principles in leadership.
