The Vicar General,Archdiocese of Onitsha,Very Rev Fr Johnbosco Okafor has admonished Christians to shun idol worshipping and embrace Jesus in the Eucharist for their salvation and liberation.
The Vicar General spoke while delivering a sermon during the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body of Christ at the St Mary’s Catholic Church,Inland Town,Onitsha last Sunday.
Very Rev Fr Johnbosco Okafor who is also the priest in charge of the parish, pointed out that the new covenant has overtaken the old covenant as ratified by the blood of Jesus and therefore,a waste of time, money and energy for one to follow the old covenant and idol worshipping.
According to him, lack of patience and faith,is the bane of most christians but that if christians allow God to take charge of their affairs and fight their battles, they will always succeed in their endeavors.
He expressed regrets that it is only man that is challenging God by disobeying His commandments but that at the end of it all, thesame man runs back to God for solution when all seems to be lost.
On the need for the faithful to remain steadfast and attend masses always,fr Johnbosco Okafor told the congregation that there’s power in the Eucharist adding,”Let us respect Jesus in the Eucharist and do what He asked us to do.He is the bread that came down from heaven to feed us spiritually”.
