Newly received members of Fellowship of Catholic Postgraduate Students (FCPS) Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria have been tasked to make judicious use of their time so that they may complete their studies within stipulated period of time.
Addressing the students at the sent forth and orientation dinner organized for graduating and new members inside the parish St Pope John Paul II Hall, on Saturday, 20th April, 2024, the group’s patron, Evang PC Alika observed that many students overstay in school due to poor time management rather than delay from lecturers. Acknowledging lesser cases of delay from lecturers, he told the students to do their part first so that it will be easier to vindicate them when the need arises.
On her part, the patroness, Prof Mrs. N.P. Chiezey encouraged them to collaborate with lecturers and students for exchange and clarification of ideas. She also spoke on the need to abreast themselves with current research tools and trends in their fields of research so that they do not lag behind.
Earlier in the Week, Thursday, 18th April 2024, a group discussion on ‘The Church and the Politics of Social Responsibility,’ presented an opportunity for members and stakeholders to bare their minds on the responsibility of the Church towards Catholic students and youths. They asserted that the Church is not doing enough for them in terms of welfare and in the area of employment.
They observed that many of them who graduated many years ago are yet to gain meaningful employment.Despite ‘scarce employment opportunities,’ the students maintained that many of their contemporaries get employed, imploring the Church to come to their aid, so that they too may become financially stable and contribute meaningfully to the development and growth of the Church and humanity
