Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, on Saturday, 16th November, held the 13th edition of Zik’s Annual Lecture Series.
Speaking during the event held at the ASUU Secretariat in the Awka campus of the University, venue of the 13th edition of the Annual lecture, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, said henceforth, the Founder’s Annual Zik Lecture Series would hold on the convocation days of the University. This, he said, was to attract more national and global personalities to it.
Odoh commended the benefactor of the lecture, Senator Ben Obi, for perpetually endowing the ZIK’s Lecture Series.
‘Not content with this, every year he deploys his extensive reach and clout to attract eminent national and international personalities to these lectures, as chairpersons, special guests and guest speakers,’ Odoh said.
He expressed confidence that the 2025 edition would be held in the Legislative Building Complex attracted by Senator Obi which is nearing completion.
The Vice-Chancellor also used the occasion to highlight his disruptive development model in the next five years through a strategic framework that would not only boost academic quality, innovation and competitiveness, but place NAU among the top 50 in Africa.
The Chairman of the occasion and Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, earlier in his speech commended Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe on his enviable legacies, urging emerging leaders to emulate his leadership model.
For his part, Senator Obi said he was optimistic that the Legislative Building Complex would be completed soon to enable the institute immediately commence operations by housing the Zik Lecture Series, present award certificates and train leaders for greater productivity.
‘I am sure the new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bernard Odoh, took into cognizance the importance of this institute when he made a promise of bringing N70b investment to the University within the next 5 years. I look forward to working with him towards realizing that promise as this institute when completed, will play an important role for the University in this regard,’ the erstwhile Senator stated.
