Iwene Tansi Major Seminary Onitsha led by rector very Rev. Fr. Fabian Obi with the students and invited dignitaries over the weekend celebrated the 10th convocation ceremony of the great theological institution. The ceremony attracted dignitaries such as the vice chancellor of Chukwumemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Omenugha, Engr. Ken Nnamani from federal Polytechnic Oko, Rev. fr. Prof. B.A.C. Obiefuna of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and Bishop Onaga of Enugu Diocese who presided over the ceremony.
The convocation ceremony which featured the award of degree certificate to the Seminary 2023 graduands was an affiliate of Urbaniana University Rome and the ceremony was successfully held in great esteem. In the address he presented at the occasion, the Rector of the lwene Tansi major Seminary Onitsha, Very Rev. Fr. Fabian Obi showed that the graduands of the Seminary institution have successfully gone through their course which has enabled them to earn ecclesiastical degree in Theology, pointing out that the students level of study and the degree earned showed or portrayed the commitment of their father formators and the Rector of the institution.
The Rector in his address showed that the Priests in any community or Parish who has a curate and other priests should not live alone. In his words, ” a Priest who lives alone with a curator and other priests in his area of authority is miles away from creating and sustaining a community of human life and a community of God. He further noted that the study of the graduands and their degree in theology brings out who they are and the relationship with their faith.
Prof. Kate Omenugha in her speech at the occasion reminded the Seminary graduands that they are the products of a great religious institution, hence the need to live by example, pointing out that the institution has values which is the hallmark of their training.
Highpoint of the convocation ceremony which was well coordinated by the first Vice Rector, Rev. Fr Okakpu and his lieutenants was “a thoughts provoking convocation lecture delivered by Prof.B.A.C Obiefuna in which he emphasis the importance of good public relationship in the management of human affairs . The valedictory message was delivered by Rev. Fr. Oscar lgwe from Nnewi diocese. In his brief interview with newsmen, Rev Fr. Igwe gave God all the glory for enabling them to successfully went through their course. He pledged to serve God and man diligently.
