The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, last Monday, swore in 18 new permanent secretaries.
Performing the ceremony at the State Executive Chambers, Government House, Awka, Governor Soludo disclosed that the appointments were purely on merit, adding that nobody lobbied him to be appointed.
He said it was the first time the appointment of permanent secretaries went through the route of thorough competitive process.
While congratulating them for their appointments, the governor charged them to uphold the text of the oath of office they took.
He expressed happiness over the gender composition of eight women and 10 men in the appointment and urged them to be change agents in their various ministries.
The appointment of men from Abịa and Osun States, according to the Information Commissioner, Sir Paul Nwosu, in a press ststement made available to Fides, portrayed the governor as a detribalised man who did not consider tribe or religion.
The new Permanent Secretaries are: Mr. Joachin Achor; Mr. Adebayo Ojeyinka; Engr. Michael Obiekwe; Engr. Obi Augustine Okonkwo; Barr. Ndirika Onyekwelu; Dr. Obiageli Uchebo; and Mr. Victor C. Ezekwo.
Others are Mrs. Chinwe Achugbu; Mrs. Ifeoma Agbaizu; Barr. Nkiru Nwankwo; Dr (Engr.) Martin Agbili; Mr. Tochukwu Obodogha; Mr. Ifeatu Emodi; Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo; Engr (Dr) Florence Idigo-ibenta; Barr. Jacinta Nkeiruka Mokwe; Mr. Jerome Ilokwu; and Mrs Chinyere Nwabachili.
