The executive governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof Chukwuma Soludo last Sunday, May 12th, 2024 extolled Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation led by the chairman Chief Obinna Ufudo (Ochendo Nnobi) for providing Solar-powered water scheme and other amenities including construction of new 700 meters road for his home town people Nnobi.
The governor who was represented by Anambra state Commissioner for Special duties Hon Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazu rained the accolades during the commissioning of the water scheme built by Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation at Ifite Nnobi.
The governor described the gesture as a welcome development, stating that the foundation is doing very well by cuing into the developmental goals of the state. He also acknowledged other giant projects including establishment of a state of the art complex housing modern class rooms, e-library with over seventeen thousands books, Ict center equipped with modern computers and multi purpose hall all built by the Foundation at Nnobi.
He urged other well to do individuals in the state to emulate the think home philosophy of Obinna Ufudo led foundation, positing that with such spirit and support, together with the committed efforts of the government, the state will witness unprecedented transformation within a short period of time.
Also, the federal house member, representing Idemili North and South federal constituency Hon Uche Okonkwo who graced the event in a speech rained accolades on Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation, describing the water project as a way of transforming and developing the community. As part of encouragement and support, he pledged to partner with the Foundation by building three more solar powered boreholes in different locations at Nnobi community.
The TC chairman Idemili South LGA Iyom Amaka Obidigbo in her contribution poured encomiums on Sir Ufudo foundation for making life easy for community members by provision of clean water and other essential amenities for the community. She further described the founder of the foundation Chief Obinna Ufudo as a good man by every definition, adding that he has touched so many lives in so many ways.
An indigene of the town Lord Dr. Mike Omenugha ( Ichie Obama Nnobi) who spoke to the press also praised the good gestures and exemplary legacy Chief Obinna Ufudo is building, asserting that community members are happy over his large heart.
The founder, Chief Obinna Ufudo in his speech at the event said he is helping the government to develop his community by solving water problem. The borehole project he said has multiple water fetching points connected by 3 kilometres of reticulation pipeline network that supply water to three other major fetching points installed at different locations in the community.
His words: ” The water project is one of the ways my foundation has contributed to make my community better. We dug 496 feet to get clean water. The water scheme is part of our efforts to improve healthcare which is one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. Our Foundation has also funded the health insurance payments for over 500 indigenes of our community as well as employing full time workers to clean all the roads and gutters in Ifite Nnobi. We aim to make Ifite Nnobi a mode society with clean water, improved primary schools and clean roads and gutters.”
The foundation later dedicated the water scheme and various fetching points to some women of the community including late Mrs. Margaret Uzuagu, late Mrs. Theresa Madunagu and late Lady Caroline Ufudo who joined the saints in heaven recently.
Other community members who spoke to the press said ” we are full of gratitude to Sir Ufudo foundation for the massive development the foundation is bringing to the town, testifying that their people especially the youth and children have benefited greatly from Sir Pius Ufudo foundation both in the area of education, health and empowerment.
High point of the event was official commissioning of the water project. Meanwhile, different villages and organizations in the Ifite town took turns to present gfts to the chairman of the foundation Chief Obinna Ufudo for his humanitarian projects at the town. The entertained the guests with cultural dances, masquerade displays and musical performances.
