The Parish Priest of Immaculate of Mary Parish, Fegge Onitsha, Revd. Fr. Sampson Ogbuebuna has called on Christians to demonstrate the oneness that Jesus prayed for through their actions.Making this call in the parish on Sunday May 12, 2024, the priest pointed to the apostles’ style of life as a template for communal living.
He charged parishioners to work towards the good of their fellow human beings and to influence the worlds in positive ways. His words, “Jesus is talking about authentic oneness.
The disciples lived in one spirit and mind. No one of them claimed ownership of their possessions. They laid all their proceeds at the feet at the apostles for common good. Oneness should be shown in your office, business area, and where you are serving.
This is the oneness Jesus is talking about. This oneness entails helping your brethren and seeing them as your brethren.”“We have abandoned this oneness and entered into ceremonial oneness. Today, what is in our hearts is the spirit of division, backbiting, disunity.
See what you do as unto the good of your brother, and not for your own good. Plunge your life in humanity and you will be known for good. Once the spirit of oneness enters into you will see clearly. Let us come together so that we can inherit what God has prepared for us.”
