As the fedral house of assembly rerun election scheduled to hold in Anambra on 3rd February 2024 draws close, the Anambra resident electoral commissioner Dr. Mrs Elizerbert Agwu on Wednesday January, 24th assured Anambrarians that Independent National Electoral commissioner INEC will
conduct free and fair election in the affected areas.
The commissioner stated clearly that no form of irregularity such as snatching of ballot boxes, thuggery, vote buying, molestation would be allowed, adding that tight security would be provided.
She advised contestants to campaign seriously and convince the voters to vote for them and avoid violation of the electoral laws.
According to her, winning of election is not a do or die affair. “It is a brotherly game . Do your best by convincing electorates to vote for you. If you lose the election at the end of the day, accept it in good faith, and try again next time. If you win, then fulfil your campaign promises”.
The REC further charged voters to come out in mass and perform their franchise. “Vote the right candidates that will assist in delivering the dividends of democracy. Don’t be afraid to vote the right candidates since no body will arrest or molest you”
She disclosed that the rerun election will hold in Orumba North and South federal constituency precisely Nanka where 161, 194 eligible voters with PVC are expected to cast their votes while in Nnewi North, total of 97, 438 voters are expected to vote on the election day.
