Faithspiration Initiative marked Valentine’s Day with an emotional visit to inmates at Onitsha Correctional Center, bringing them relief, encouragement, and spiritual upliftment. The outreach, which began at 11:00 AM, was led by the group’s founder, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, and was a continuation of Faithspiration Initiative’s mission to bring hope to the forgotten and marginalized. The visit follows closely on the heels of their impactful outreach in Awka-Etiti, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State, demonstrating their commitment to evangelism through both spiritual and material support.
Welcoming the Faithspiration team, Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Okpalugo, the Prison Chaplain, expressed deep appreciation for their presence and acts of kindness. He emphasized that the visit was more than just a charitable gesture—it was a fulfillment of Christ’s teachings on love and mercy.
Addressing the inmates, Fr. Adimike reassured them that their time in the correctional center did not define them and that God’s love remains steadfast. He reminded them that as long as there is life, there is hope, urging them not to be despondent but to trust in God, embrace true repentance, and stick to their mantra that no matter their condition, they will always praise the Lord. He encouraged them to see their time in the center as temporary, not as a sign of abandonment by God, but as a period of renewal and transformation. He also spoke about the significance of Valentine’s Day, noting that it coincides with the feast of Saints Cyril, Methodius, and Valentine, with St. Valentine representing love and sacrifice—values that align with Faithspiration Initiative’s mission of spreading Christ’s love in action.
The visit was filled with celebration and encouragement as gospel singer Sister Chioma Ezefete led an electrifying session of praise and worship. Both Faithspiration members and inmates danced and sang in thanksgiving, creating an atmosphere of joy. Adding to the excitement, popular comedian Igwe White entertained the inmates with humor, drawing laughter and cheers, offering a rare moment of relief for those behind bars.
Faithspiration Initiative invested over one million naira in the outreach, ensuring that all 1,000 inmates were provided with cooked meals. The team also donated essential supplies, including tissue paper, toilet soaps, detergents, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and bags of pure water, addressing critical hygiene and welfare needs.
In his closing remarks, Fr. Okpalugo praised Faithspiration Initiative for their consistent dedication to uplifting prisoners. He also acknowledged the support of Very Rev. Sis. Bennett Ezeokoli, whom the inmates regard as their spiritual mother, for her role in facilitating the visit. Faithspiration Initiative extends its heartfelt gratitude to all donors whose generosity made the visit possible. Their contributions have not only provided material relief but have also rekindled the spirit of hope among the inmates.
As the Valentine’s charity outreach continues, Faithspiration now sets its sights on upcoming missionary visits to Opi Agu Nsukka, Ode, and other communities, reaffirming its commitment to sharing love, faith, and hope wherever it is needed most.
