Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, has been awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt. honoris causa) by Oxford University. The prestigious recognition was conferred during a ceremony held at the historic Sheldonian Theatre.
Following the ceremony, receptions were hosted at All Souls and St John’s Colleges. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala was honored alongside five other distinguished individuals: Sir Michael Palin, Warren East, Sir Demis Hassabis, Professor Salim Yusuf, and Anoushka Shankar.
In attendance were Oxford University Chancellor Lord Christopher Patten, Vice Chancellor Dr. Irene Tracey, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s husband, Dr. Ikemba Iweala, and her daughter, Dr. Onyinye Iweala.
