- Fr Mike Okoye urges Christians

A Catholic priest of Onitsha Archdiocese Rev Fr Mike Okoye last Sunday called on Christians to resist and shun any thinking or act that may lead them into submitting to the desires of the flesh.
Fr Okoye who gave the advice while preaching a Sunday Homily stated that any Christian who lives in the flesh cannot do the will of God at the same time. According to him, we should always pray for God’s grace so that we can be able to withstand the temptation of submitting to the desires of the flesh. “Strive to be the light of the world by loving one another, being compassionate, giving alms, being charitable. In essence, you must eschew bitterness, hatred, jealousy, stinginess and other unwholesome acts cable of staining your relationship with God”
He reminded faithful the need to cooperate with God in the journey of our lives, emphasizing that we should not fold our arms waiting for God to do everything for us including providing food on the table for us.
“As Christians we must be hardworking, toiling to make both ends meet. Play your part and wait on God to crown your efforts. Like St Paul’s said, work out your salvation with fear and trembling since God has given us the opportunity, freedom and enabling ground to achieve it.
Oby the word of God because that is the practical way to grow in faith . We live by faith and not by sight .” he emphasized.
