As digital age is taking toll on the lives of the young people, a woman leader Mrs Henrietta Ozoigbo recently enjoined parents not to relent in inculcating on their children sound moral values and core home training that can help them withstand and conquer the wrong values internet exposure may be presenting to them.
Mrs Ozoigbo who is the current Parish CWO president SS John Paul Parish Iba Pope Awada while expressing worry that the internet age may be doing more harm than good in the lives of the young ones, posited that it is only a good home training embedded in good christian values that can help the young generation navigate the storming waters.
According to her, the internet with the aid of android phones, computer sets has turned the world into a global village that is consistently exposing our children to alien cultures that may be totally repugnant to our cultural values and heritage. ” In other words, if you allow your children to glue themselves to the internet, you are gradually loosing them and the consequences cannot be imaginable.
“Our children are now being exposed to different kinds of things while using phones and other gadgets that are connected to the internet. They spend a lot of time on phones watching all sorts of videos and chatting away time. On this note, parents are advised to curtail amount of time their children put in accessing their phones. Stop encouraging your wards to use phones when not necessary. Engage them in something doing and ensure they are busy with studies and home chores.”
Mrs Ozoigbo further frowned at attitudes of some mothers who largely depends on house help at the detriment of their our children who may not learn any house chores but rather busying themselves with phones. ” When you disengage your children from house chores because of the presence of house maid, you are already in trouble because your children will eventually grow up knowing nothing about house keeping and they may not forgive you.”
She also advised fellow mothers who choose to appear nude in the public in the name of copying new fashion or modelling to desist from such irresponsible and immodesty dressing as that contribute largely to the rate of moral decay eating deep into the fabrics our society.
