Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, has responded to the devastating fire that engulfed the church’s main auditorium in Oregun, Lagos on Sunday. The blaze disrupted church activities and caused significant traffic congestion in the area.
Speaking at a service held at the church’s campground in Ogun State, Oyakhilome reflected on the incident: “Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident. During the 2001 Ikeja cantonment bombing incident, the building vibrated so much, and we thought it was going to collapse. I thought to myself that if it collapsed, I was going to build a bigger, better one. At the end of the day, it didn’t collapse, and we called the engineers to see if there was any need to bring it down and rebuild, but it was still okay.”
Addressing the recent fire, he declared: “Now that this has happened, we will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one.”
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) confirmed that the fire has been brought under control. Margret Adeseye, the Director of LSFRS, explained in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the fire escalated because the church’s fire service initially tried to handle the situation independently without calling for assistance from the Lagos fire service.
Adeseye stated that the cause of the fire is still unknown and will be determined following a thorough investigation.
