The Chief Shepherd of Onitsha Archdiocese , His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke last Saturday went on pastoral visit to St. Gregory Catholic parish lyiowa Odekpe in the Ogbaru local government area of Anambra state during which he administered the sacrament of confirmation on over 600 faithful of the parish. As usual the partakers of the sacrament of confirmation were asked to live the life of a good christian as soldiers of christ.
Speaking to the Press at the wake of the mass marking the event, the parish priest of the church Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Egwuoba on behalf of his Parishioners poured encomiums on the Archbishop for finding time to visit, describing his visit as a mission of love. He disclosed that over six hundred parishioners of St Gregory De Great parish were admitted into the sacrament of confirmation. He advised them to live up to the calling of their faith. lt was joy and excitement by those who received the sacrament of confirmation, even with their parents.
. Commenting on the event which brought the beauty of the parish to the fore, a parishioner Mr. Raphael Onyene expressed appreciation for the pastoral visit of His Grace to the parish, stating that he is always at the beck and call of the parish whenever his services are needed at the parish,
Mr. Onyene however advised all those members of the church who received the sacrament of confirmation not to derail from their faith as they have pledged. Highpoint of the event included taking of photograph and entertainment of invited guests.
