Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, expressed concern over preachers aggressively condemning the Catholic Church. He emphasized that their salvation does not depend on such attacks and called for more emphasis on preaching love and practical Christianity to counter secularism and inhuman behaviors.
In his homily at St. Elizabeth Pastoral Area, Abuja, Archbishop Kaigama criticized these preachers for spreading falsehoods about Catholic worship and doctrine. He noted that despite accusations and misconceptions, the Catholic Church continues to grow, highlighting its historical and doctrinal foundations.
Kaigama urged critics to study the history of the Bible and understand the Catholic Church’s role in its formation. He encouraged Catholics to remain steadfast in their faith and to respond to false accusations with dignity and knowledge.
The Archbishop also called for unity among Christians and respect for people of all faiths, emphasizing that true Christianity is demonstrated through love and good deeds, not by attacking others.
