The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, last Monday at Ekwueme Square, Awka, joined the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to mark this year’s Children’s Day Celebration.
The theme of this year’s celebration was “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of the Nigerian Child through Quality Education and Skills Development”.
In a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, and made available to newsmen in Awka, the CP encouraged the people of Anambra State to sustain the message of peace and make deliberate efforts towards sustaining the existing peace in the state and also stand against acts capable of threatening the national unity and public peace.
The Police boss, CP Itam, urged parents and guardians to be better role models to their children and wards by creating a deliberate relationship with them, noting that it would help to assess and direct them properly, even as he charged them to always practice what they preached.
March past by schoolchildren and police schoolchildren; presentation of gifts to winners of the march past; cutting of the celebration cake by the governor and his wife; cultural displays by the schoolchildren, among others, formed the highpoints of the occasion.
