A priest of Onitsha Archdiocese Rev Fr Pius Ejiofor on Wednesday, called on Christians to allow the lenten season draw them closer to God.
Fr Ejiofor made the call while preaching a Homily during ash Wednesday Mass.
His words ” Make this lent a special one so that the season will bring you closer to God. Lenten season calls for fasting, prayers and alms giving. When you are fasting, don’t allow the next person know you are fasting.
This is a period to reexamine your conscience and shun sin. Temptation to sin is not a sin but when you go on committing that sin, it makes you a sinner. Don’t keep malice, rather make effort to reconcile with those that wronged you. Don’t go to bed without forgiving those that angered you during the day.”
Fr Ejiofor further urged Christians to show love to neighbours and assist those in difficulties, adding that you must not wait until you are begged before you can give alms.
” Also, don’t pray loud so that you may not disturb the neighborhood”.
