A knight of the Catholic church Sir Callistus Obunike Ohaegbu (KSJI) has declared his bid for the House of Representatives seat for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress, ADC, pledging transformative representation.
Speaking at his Ukpor home in Anambra State, Ohaegbu said his “Nwa Miss Project” campaign reflects his humble background as a schoolteacher’s son and his commitment to giving constituents a voice they can be proud of. He cited his track record of supporting Igbo traders in Abuja and helping young people from his constituency secure jobs and opportunities, including over 20 appointments during his tenure as Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, FCT.
He outlined plans to drive economic growth through gas infrastructure, functional Eastern ports, dredging of the River Niger, and completion of the Port Harcourt–Aba–Enugu–Maiduguri rail corridor, while also leveraging the existing Federal Industrial Park in Akwaehedi/Unubi for industrial development. Ohaegbu stressed unity, experience, and selfless service, citing a road project he facilitated without personal gain as an example.
He also affirmed support for ADC leaders David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola and urged the party’s National Working Committee to uphold the South East’s endorsement of Peter Obi as presidential candidate.
Former Anambra Speaker and ADC chieftain Hon. Ben Chuks Nwosu described Ohaegbu as a tested leader and urged party members to register ahead of the primaries to ensure a transparent process.
