In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Archbishop Valerian Okeke of Onitsha celebrated the Solemnity of Pentecost by calling on the faithful to embody the Holy Spirit in their daily lives. Speaking to the community of St. John the Baptist Parish in Odoakpu-Onitsha on the occasion of the second anniversary of the church’s dedication, Archbishop Valerian Okeke highlighted the transformative power of the Holy Spirit.
“As the children of the Holy Spirit, being led by the Spirit of God, our lifestyle should be reflective of the Holy Spirit,” the Archbishop said. “Anyone who encounters us should always want to come to us again, as we speak that one universal language – the Language of Love, the language of the children of God.”
Archbishop Valerian Okeke expressed gratitude for the parishioners of St. John the Baptist Parish, particularly noting the special significance of the day’s events, including the reception of the Holy Spirit by those who were confirmed. “I thank God for the good people of St. John the Baptist Parish, Odoakpu-Onitsha, on the second anniversary of the dedication of the Parish Church today, and those who received the Holy Spirit today in the sacrament of Confirmation,” he stated.
The Archbishop’s message emphasized the importance of love and understanding, encouraging the faithful to let their lives be a testament to the Spirit’s presence. “We will always speak that one universal language, that whenever spoken, everyone hears and understands us, the Language of Love,” he said, reinforcing the idea that the Holy Spirit fosters unity and compassion among believers.
Concluding his message, Archbishop Okeke prayed for the continued presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the faithful and the gifts it bestows. “I pray for all of us, that the Holy Spirit may remain in us and grant us His gifts,” he wrote, underscoring his hope for ongoing spiritual growth and community strength.
