Despite causing Nigerians heartache by losing in the final match of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, Nigeria’s male national team, the Super Eagles, have been commended by Anambra governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
The Eagles were beaten 2-1 by hosts, Ivory Coast, in last Sunday’s final match.
But Governor Soludo emphasized what he described as the immense pride and admiration he felt for the team’s efforts throughout the tournament.
Governor Soludo commended the Super Eagles on their remarkable journey in the AFCON competition, where, he said, they showcased determination, and resilience on the field.
His words, “Despite the outcome of the final match, the team’s passion and dedication to represent Nigeria with honour and pride have not gone unnoticed.
“This moment serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of sports and the inherent challenges that come with competitive football.”
Sharing the disappointment felt by the players and all Nigerians following the defeat in the final match, the governor urged them to take pride in their accomplishments and to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence.
Also, Governor Soludo appreciated the support of the Federal Government, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), coaching staff, and supporters, for what he termed their untiring support and encouragement throughout the tournament.
He emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in overcoming setbacks and building towards future success.
