Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has raised concerns about the increasing prevalence of idolatry in the South East, despite the numerous churches in the region. He lamented that, among those who identify as Christians, only a few genuinely practice their faith.
Speaking during the 10th edition of the Anglican Prayer Rally in Awka, Governor Soludo called on church leaders to prioritize evangelism and soul-winning over physical projects. He emphasized the need for churches to reduce school fees to make education more affordable for the less privileged in society.
Governor Soludo expressed regret over the rising levels of idol worship, despite the proliferation of churches. He cautioned against complacency and the risk of churches becoming overly focused on maintenance activities and various projects.
He stressed that the core values of governance and Christianity should revolve around improving the lives of the poor and vulnerable. Governor Soludo assured the public that his administration remains dedicated to the welfare of the citizens, even in the face of limited resources.
