During the celebration of the Holy Mass for the one hundred years of the establishment of Mission Sunday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Rev Fr. Dan’asabe Jibo disclosed that reconciliation and communion are an integral part of the Mission of Christ. The clergyman who hinged his homily on the Pope’s First Mission Sunday Message told them that as baptized, they are expected to remain in union with Christ and with one another, because “Mission starts from Trinity itself. Our union with Christ is part of our mission. It is a union like the Vine and the branches.
We share in His oneship with the Father. Reconciliation, and communion are essential aspects of the evangelizing mission of Christ. When you reconcile with one another, the Gospel will be preached accordingly.” Fr. Jibo explained that contributing their quota to the work of mission is one of the ways they can propagate the Gospel.
He discouraged them from belittling the quantity of their contribution, catechizing that communion is the main focus, because by so doing, they identify themselves as branches of Jesus, the Vine. After the Mission Sunday contribution, the clergyman thanked them for contributing to mission, and prayed God to reward them abundantly.
